Use System Variables to Create Slide Numbers in Adobe Captivate

For a long time I independently numbered every slide because I didn't necessarily want the slide number on every slide. Then Master slides came along in Adobe Captivate, whoot !

You can place slide numbers and the number count (total amount of slides) on a specific master slide and then designate which Master slides you want to assigned with the slide number.

See the video and steps below to learn how to add slide numbers and a slide count to a master slide using System Variables:

Watch video on You Tube and see instructions below:

1.       On a Master slide insert a Text Caption
2.       Double click your mouse inside the Text Caption and type in ‘Slide’
3.       In the Properties panel of the Text Caption under Format, click on the [X], this will bring up the Insert Variable box
4.       Click on the drop down of the Variable Type and select System
5.       Click on the drop down of the Variables and scroll down to find cpInfoCurrentSlide,      click OK
6.       In the Text Caption Box type in a space, then ‘of’ then another space
7.    Repeat steps 3 - 5
8.    This time insert the system variable cpInfoSlideCount
